a trip to vandalur zoo

The Arignar Anna Zoological Park, popularly known as the Vandalur Zoo is located in Vandalur, which is about 30 kilometers from Chennai city, India. Madras has the distinction of having the first public zoo in India as early as 1855. It was originally situated near Park town in the Chennai city. In 1975 the zoo had expanded and moved out of the Chennai city. The Tamilnadu Forest department shifted this zoo to Vandalur reserve forest in 1979. The zoo is located on an area of 1300 acres. The zoo was formally inaugurated in year 1985. This zoo is one of the largest in South Asia.
We had a splendid trip to the Vandalur zoo recently and were stunned so see the Vandalur zoo has undergone a lot of improvement with new animals making their comfortable home here. A wide range of animal life is habitated in this zoo. Here we found our answer to our question; why is this particular zoo is famous and whats different in it. The thing is the animals are not been put in a cage or beside the bars. Animals can be seen in large open island type enclosure, with wet and dry moats and hidden walls with simulated natural environment. There are totally 81 enclosures. More than 170 species of mammals, aviaries and reptiles are exhibited in the zoo.
We started with Lions safari. The forest officers took us in a well safe van inside the forest were we got close to lions and tigers. We were so close to those wild animals that only we could touch them as we are inside the van. But getting too closer to a dangerous animal was some thing a different experience. And after the Lion safari we were given maps and asked to follow it and go all around the zoo and watch all other animals, birds and reptiles. Inside zoo we could also opt to take the small sized electrical train which runs on battery or bicycle.
The enclosure for the king cobra has an air conditioner fitted, as it cannot stand the summer heat. The soaring temperature in Chennai is bound to give the animals a tough time. All the cages in the zoo are well protected. They have thatched roofs on the top of every enclosure and fresh river sand has been spread on the floor to make it cooler for the animals. Water is sprinkled on the sand to provide some cool relief to the animals. Caves that are exposed directly to the sun are put under a shower twice a day.
Stone boards reveal the zoological nature, feeding, mating and breeding habits of the animals. The trees bear placards with their botanical name and other details. The zoo is woody, with plenty of trees. There are tree-lined tar-topped paths for a long trek inside the zoo.
There is a 'student zoo club', whose members are imparted training and education about wildlife management, conservation, animal behavior, their habitats, ecosystems, education, animal adaptations, reproduction, nutrition, animal housing and husbandry.
It was a different experience; some thing new to watch; the behavior and actions of the animals. Get close to the dangerous ones and see them close face to face. One have to and must visit such places, with great environment with fascinating ecosystems coming together.

  7. When someone cuts you off in traffic, do you flash your lights and horn your horn?
  8. Have you dropped close friends because they didn't live up to your expectations?
  9. When someone doesn't show up on time, do you find yourself planning an anger speech?
  10. Are you often irritated by other's incompetence?

India makes Srilankan tails down

On the pitch where you cant see any margin of era for the fast bowlers; the man Ishant Sharma helped India to seal victory over the lankans by bagging the top order batsmans.
It was all set at Galle, the flat pitch, which would allow the ball to spin a lot on day 4 and day 5 pointing srilankans victory.Anil Kumble was looking to level the series and gain the confidence back to his side. India won the toss and elected to bat which was a fabulous decision by him. Sehwag and Gambir had a great start and took india to a safer and secured place in the match. Suddenly everything slipped out from their hands when murali and mendis started to pluck indian wickets. Even though it was a great start by india, they were not able put up a great score on the board; and so were restricted to 329. SriLanka was not a bad side and they started to counter attack on indian bowlers. Until Harbhajan stops lankans to a total of 292 with a 6 wicket haul.
India were leading by 37 runs, but it was not as we thought, india were restricted to a total of 269. With a target of 307 and 2 days to go; it was a 50-50 chance for both the team. Until when our hero ' sharma' swung the new ball and made early break through. The top order were crashed by I.Sharma and Zaheer. 10-3 made indians to get back their confidence; it also mad harbhjan easy to crumble the other batsmans. Harbhajan with 4 wickets and I.Sharma with 3, brought 170 runs victory to the Indian side.
We can say; all happened because of the pace mixing with spin. As it was I.Sharma and Harbhajan who clinched victory to india; but do not forget Sehwag who was the successful batsman to crack down the lankan bowling attack. He was unbeaten on 201 in his first innings; and also made an aggressive 50 which opened the 'door of victory'. By scoring 201, he has taken his 5th 200+ in his test match career. The unbeaten 201 in the first innings was more than half of the team score(329). Thus he was rewarded for his excellent, mind blowing performance by naming him "man of the match".
Now its again going to be tough, the 3 match series have been leveled to 1-1; the third and final match to be played would be more crucial and also exciting.

Overcome "hollow breathing"

One striking technique to overcome hollow breathing is through deep abdominal breathing; it gives us instant energy and relaxation. Abdominal breathing is; bulge out the stomach when air is taken in, so that the diaphragm goes down into the abdominal cavity leaving more space in the lungs for air to get in.
To get instant energy, one has to inhale deeply, this could be done by closing one of the nose hole and inhale through other slowly, after reaching the maximum, soon unhold the nose; sustain and hold the breath for a while. Now close the other nose hole and release the held air slowly. By doing this; for 10-15 times we gain a instant energy in us, and we would be able to breath easily; without any hesitation.
The biological processes that takes place while doing so are; when we inhale more amount of oxygen enters our lungs. And when we hold our breath, we are allowing sufficient time to exchange blood and air inside our lungs. So more oxygen enters into our blood, and so more carbon dioxide is been released out from our blood, and so release it outside our body.
This method allows to burn the food we take and provide more energy; which is good for us, and helps us to work the whole day without tired. The incomplete burning of food leads to tiresomeness.
